Dec 2008 Securing corporate assets with web content filtering.
According to Eryin Halmen, Fortinet's Country Manager of Malaysia & Brunei, the need to enforce corporate Internet Usage Policies requires the ability to monitor and block unauthorized web sites. Out of the 40 million websites Fortinet's FortiGuard Web Content Filtering service covers, 34% are potentially bandwidth consuming, liable, non-productive, objectionable or controversial and security violating. The need for complete content security is rising quickly as corporations are quickly realizing that traditional security devices such as firewalls, IDC, and host based Antivirus are no longer protecting them from the new generation of threats. The most effective solution to secure an enterprise network is a consolidation of various key security functions that provide a dynamic threat prevention system.

Oct 15, 2008 Cyber threats are prevalent, Fortinet analyzes new security trends
Enterprises have suffered massive economic losses associated with Internet security and data leakage with more hackers profiteering by spreading viruses and malware. According to Derek Manky, security researcher at Fortinet, the prevalence of wireless connections has caused the number of vulnerabilities to rise. Hackers may create rogue WiFi access points and log users' activity. WiFi settings prove to be attractive to advertisers, as they can collect information. Most WiFi networks are unencrypted, so users' personal information may be stolen. Manky recommends that enterprises deploy UTM solutions with multiple security functions, including firewall, antivirus, antispam, IPSec VPN and web filtering. Enterprise users are encouraged to use a VPN or SSL site for data transfers and adopt WEP or WPA encryption.
